DELIVERY DEVELOPMENT

Most of us will be aware that the last 50 metres from back of store to retail shelf is the most expensive in the supply chain and therefore much has been done to streamline this and reduce costs. However, just prior to the goods arriving there is another arena, the delivery yard, which is much neglected but where again significant savings can be made.

A badly organised goods inward leads to congestion, inefficiency, poor H&S and surprisingly significant costs through tyre degradation as articulated vehicles struggle with tight turning circles.

In 2009 we developed and released our next generation approach to delivery strategy design (including 3D swept path analysis), which was designed to address these issues. This package shed new light on the costs which proved to be a revelation for many of our customers.

We are delighted to announce our latest innovation which is now available offering an innovative, cost effective and speedy prediction tool. This allows our clients to understand the level of any predicted noise and light pollution earlier than ever before – benefits include the ability to identify, illustrate and measure impacts and duly demonstrate the reduction following any proposed or employed mitigation measures.

Our clients are constantly striving for ways to minimise pollution as a result of any new build and/or investment and our new Noise & Light Impact study has its sights targeted at demonstrating a clearer understanding of the anticipated noise & light impact of any given delivery strategy proposal (or indeed to analyse and improve an existing product). We all face the daily challenge of reducing our current impact on the environment – our tool is therefore available to demonstrate the application of ‘best practical means’ to all interested parties.
